Upcoming Service Changes – Fall 2026

As summer winds down and fall approaches, our regional transit partners are introducing service changes to help keep Puget Sound moving.

Many ORCA partner transit agencies are launching updated fall service starting in August 2026. These updates help transit agencies maintain reliable, affordable, and sustainable services for all riders. Below is a breakdown of what’s changing and when.

Community Transit: August 29

On August 29, 2026, Community Transit bus service changes go into effect. These changes include routes with schedule or stop changes, routes with more trips, routes with fewer trips, and changes to some Park & Ride facilities. 

  • Routes with fewer trips: 102, 270, 904, 909
  • Route being eliminated: ST 515
  • Facility changes:
    • Cathcart Park & Ride is opening with 154 free parking spaces.
    • Some Everett Station bay assignments are changing.
    • Lake Stevens Transit Center name is changing to Lake Stevens Park & Ride.
    • Marysville II Park & Ride name is changing to Marysville 116th Park & Ride.
    • Some Seaway Transit Center bay assignments are changing.

King County Metro: August 29

Starting August 29, 2026, King County Metro is expanding and updating bus service. There will be seven new bus routes and thousands of additional bus trips, with more opportunities to connect to the 1 and 2 Lines on Link light rail. Riders will also see more morning and late-night trips, along with increased weekend service. 

  • Additional weekday trips will be added to Routes 8, 72, 75 and 77. 
  • Two new Metro Flex pilot services will launch in Auburn and Federal Way to increase connections to light rail and Sounder stations. 
  • Some bus routes have been discontinued or replaced as part of these service improvements, including routes: 162, 165, 177, 208, 212, 271, 372, DART 901.

Pierce Transit: August 30

On August 30, 2026, Pierce Transit will make schedule improvements to many of its bus routes as part of its twice-yearly schedule update process. Some changes will be minor; others will be more significant. These improvements include: 

  • Better connections at high-transfer stops for several routes. 
  • Better alignment with middle- and high-school schedules. 
  • Adjustments to Route 400 for better alignment with Sounder train schedules.

Sound Transit: August 29

Starting August 29, 2026, Sound Transit will begin fall service changes. There will be changes to some ST Express bus routes, ranging from discontinued routes to major adjustments and minor service improvements to enhance reliability.   

  • Discontinued bus routes include: 515, 550, 554, 570 (Night Bus), 580, 586. 
  • New bus routes include: 547 (Night Bus) between Redmond and Seattle and 597 (Night Bus) between Lakewood and Seattle. 
  • ST Express bus routes with major service changes: 522, 556, 574
