Tapping In: ORCA Monthly News for April 2024

ORCA Team

Hello, Eastside! Sound Transit 2 Line Opens 4/27
The next major transit milestone of 2024 is nearly upon us, as the Sound Transit 2 Line opens to riders on Saturday, April 27th. This is the largest transit opening since the initial 1 Line opened in 2009! The 2 Line opens with eight stations from South Bellevue to Redmond Technology
Center. The big day includes a full slate of events, from the ceremonial ribbon cutting at 10 am, to station activations along the route.
To learn more about the 2 Line celebration, check out the Sound Transit 2 Line website by clicking here.
Be sure to come and say hi to the ORCA team at Bellevue Downtown Station on opening day. The ORCA team will be there answering ORCA-related questions and handing out sweet ORCA swag (yes, we’ll have Boops!).

March Madness – ORCA Style Review
Our 2024 edition of ORCA Madness concluded earlier this month, with “Winning a new Boop toy” taking the title of top Puget Sound transit experience. Over 400 individuals participated in this year’s contest, an increase of over 75% from the 2023 challenge. The majority of players came from X (Twitter) and Instagram – and more than 60% utilized our brand-new Linktree platform to access the forms. A few lucky players who voted in each round of the tournament received new Boop toys as prizes. Congrats!
Don’t miss upcoming opportunities to participate in ORCA activities and contests! Follow us on social media – @TheORCACard on X (Twitter) and Facebook, and @TheRealORCACard on Instagram and Threads. Remember, Boops could be on the line.
ORCA at the Swift Orange Line Block Party
Speaking of Boops, the new toys made their first public appearance at the grand Community Transit Swift Orange Line Block Party on March 30th. ORCA Customer Experience staff attended the exciting event at Edmonds College and connected with over 400 customers. Guests were excited to learn more about Youth ORCA cards, new ORCA system features, and the upcoming Lynnwood Link Extension.
Thank you, Community Transit, for putting on such a fun day!
