Upcoming Regional Fare Changes – August-October 2025

Several fare updates and changes are taking place across the region starting in August through October 2025. These changes help transit agencies maintain reliable, affordable, and sustainable services for all riders. Below is a breakdown of what’s changing and when across the region.
August 1, 2025: New $6.00 ORCA PugetPass, Some Lower Values Retiring Soon
On September 1, 2025, Adult fares on King County Water Taxi Vashon route will increase from $5.75 to $6.00. In preparation for this change, ORCA will introduce a new $6.00 PugetPass option on August 1, 2025. If you have purchased the $5.75 PugetPass to ride the Vashon Water Taxi route in the past, be sure to purchase the $6.00 PugetPass to cover the new fare. September monthly passes go on sale starting August 15 at Ticket Vending Machines, myORCA.com, the myORCA app, and on the Google Wallet.
In the future, ORCA is considering retiring the following PugetPass options because they will no longer match a fare charged by one of the participating transit agencies:
- $0.75
- $1.25
- $1.50
- $2.25
- $2.75
If you load one of these pass values, consider checking your updated trip cost and loading a different pass. We will contact impacted riders directly to provide more information closer to this change taking effect.
September 1, 2025: King County Metro & Seattle Streetcar Fare Changes
King County Metro will update fares across several services.
King County Metro Bus and Flex Service
- Bus & Metro Flex Adult bus fare: increasing from $2.75 to $3.00
Seattle Streetcar
- Adult streetcar fare: increasing from $2.25 to $3.00
Water Taxi
- West Seattle Adult fare: increasing from $5.00 to $5.25

- West Seattle ORCA LIFT fare: decreasing from $3.75 to $1.00
- Vashon ORCA LIFT fare: decreasing from $4.50 to $1.00
Vanpool
- Metro Monthly Vanpool/Transit Pass: Increasing from $99.00 to $108.00. (With Metro bus fares increasing to $3.00, the Vanpool/Transit pass must be updated to cover the new one-way trip cost on regular transit service.)
October 1, 2025: Kitsap Fast Ferry Changes
Starting October 1, 2025, Kitsap Transit will make the following changes to Fast Ferry service.
Transfers and PugetPasses
- ORCA transfers and PugetPasses will no longer be accepted on Kitsap Transit Fast Ferries. Riders will need to pay the full fare to ride. This change is being made to better align with the rising operating costs of the Fast Ferry service. If you currently rely on a PugetPass or transfer credit to ride the Fast Ferry, you will need to pay the full fare using either stored E-purse value, a Kitsap Fast Ferry specific pass, or by purchasing a ticket directly from Kitsap Transit.
Fare Increase
- Adult westbound fast ferry fare: increasing from $12.00 to $13.00
- Reduced fare westbound fast ferry fare: increasing from $6.00 to $6.50
